Analyzing the Effectiveness of Matching Algorithms RCBalance and Propensity Score Matching - A Comparative Review
Matching is an umbrella term for a group of statistical methods that are used to help estimate the effect of a treatment within non-experimental data. The rcbalance algorithm is a relatively new matching technique that allows for increased flexibility in creating matched datasets. To our knowledge, no comprehensive simulation has been performed to evaluate the effectiveness of rcbalance compared to more traditional methods. This paper seeks to fill this gap by comparing rcbalance to propensity score matching. A simulation study is performed to compare the effectiveness of rcbalance and propensity score matching in reducing bias when estimating a treatment effect.
