Title

Quantum Simulation of Error-disturbance Uncertainty Relations using IBM’s Quantum Computer

Abstract

Measuring a quantum system can cause error in the observable of interest and disturbances to other observables. This type of error and disturbance have a tradeoff described by inequalities called error-disturbance uncertainty relations (EDURs). EDURs have been experimentally validated in spin-1/2 systems using advanced neutron-optics. I propose a qubit model for EDURs and validation scheme using IBM’s open access quantum computers. I will describe the process of modeling quantum mechanics using qubits, my EDUR qubit model, and the resulting validation of EDURs. Specifically, the quantum computer validates EDURs, but, due to error limitations, cannot saturate the inequality.
