Optimal Point of Contact to Yield the Highest Probability of an Attack Kill
The objective of this project is to find the optimal point both relative to distance from the sideline and distance from the net for a set to be contacted to yield the highest probability of an outside hitter in women's volleyball to produce an attack kill. We used data collected by Volleymetrics to find distances from the sideline, and we are currently collecting data from video to collect data relative to distance from the net. We used logistic regression model to find the optimal distance along the net for the highest probability of a kill. Optimal distance for an outside hitter to contact a set is approximately 1.8 feet inside the sideline.
