How American Time Distribution Change According to Different Trends


The purpose of this activity is to predict the average time that Americans spend doing certain daily activities such as leisure and laboral activities under certain population characteristics. The activities are predicted with a linear regression using different degrees of polynomials. The different activities used for this project are divided into groups to find a trend in the American time distribution. Age, gender and ethnicity are some of the characteristics in which the data is organized for the different activities. For each characteristic, the average duration time can be predicted with the best fit polynomial that describes its behavior. Therefore, each characteristic will present different behaviors for their respective activity duration time. As a result, a better understanding of how the average time spend doing activities is affected by different characteristics in the population such as age, gender, or ethnicity.
