Bismuth Doped Zinc Oxide Nanoparticle Synthesis


Zinc oxide nanomaterials are highly studied due to their low cost, ease of synthesis, and ability to be manipulated into various structures. One application of zinc oxide is the desulfurization of hydrogen sulfide gas by adsorption. In previous research, our group has developed synthetic methods to make nanomaterials with high surface area and increased sulfur adsorption. Others have shown that adding bismuth to zinc-oxide increases adsorption, and even allows lower temperatures for the reaction (which normally occur at around 400 degrees C). I will present findings on the materials synthesized by adding Bi to ZnO in a manner designed to make nanomaterials.
