Instructional Decisions Associated with Teachers\' Mathematical Meanings
Teachers’ instructional decisions are important in mathematics classrooms because they facilitate the learning opportunities that exist for all students. Researchers have found that students do not learn that which they do not have opportunities to learn. Teachers’ mathematics, defined as one’s mathematical understanding, knowledge, and application of the mathematics influences their instructional decisions. By looking at teachers' mathematics through the lens of mathematical meanings we can better understand teachers' instructional decisions.
