Sum frequency generation analysis of polymer supported lipid bilayers
Utilizing highly efficient natural processes is a goal of targeted pharmaceutical delivery. Lipid bilayers and vesicles play key roles in processes such as intercellular transport and organ secretory functions. The addition of polymer support allows for more robust and diverse applications. Designing artificial vesicles and bilayers relies on comprehensive understanding of their fundamental properties. Research has been conducted for decades to understand lipid bilayers, conversely relatively little is known about polymer supported lipid bilayers. Our work utilizes sum frequency generation (SFG) to characterize basic properties of these polymer and lipid bilayers.
