Cell Speed in Spring System Models
It has been previously shown that cells which move using integrins attachments can be effectively modeled using a system of springs. Cell movement and speed change drastically depending on the distribution of integrin attachment time. We have previously shown that the speed of cell motion depends on the shape of the distribution as well as the mean. Now we will show that given a bounded distribution the speed is almost entirely determined by the mean and the Variance of these attach time distributions.
