Investigating Photon-Photon Interactions and Insights to the Nonlinearity of the Vacuum
Two-photon physics has been a topic of interest since the beginning of Quantum Electrodynamics (QED), as this hypothesis is one that delineates QED from standard quantum mechanics. The purpose of this investigation of photon-photon interactions is to reveal the effects of interactions between photons via virtual electron-positron pairs under QED, and potentially discover its implications on the nonlinearity of the vacuum, that by so doing we might show the fundamental nature of the QED Hamiltonian. This will be accomplished taking inner product between the QED Hamiltonian and the projector containing input photons and the corresponding output photon and electron-positron pair.
