Title

Modelling broad band radiation of tonal sound sources

Abstract

Directivities of live sound sources that are compatible with current architectural acoustics simulation packages would be useful for modeling sound fields in acoustics spaces such as concert halls or places of worship, as well as providing high-quality auralizations.  Among the difficulties in providing such directivities is the high spatial sampling resolution required and the description of the source’s broadband radiation characteristics. This work will review a method for high-resolution sampling while also delineating a technique for characterizing the broadband radiation of sound sources, such as musical instruments, whose radiation is primarily tonal.
