An integer binary quadratic form is a function of the form ax^2 + bxy + cy^2, with integer coefficients. Two forms with the same discriminant are equivalent if they can be transformed into each other by a certain type of change of variables. The number of equivalence classes under this relation is called the class number of the discriminant of that class. In this presentation, I will talk about some background on quadratic forms and discuss some questions for future research regarding the class number.
