Time-dependent characterization of an underwater acoustic measurement tank
Characterization of a laboratory testbed is necessary for reliable measurement procedures. Measurements are done in a 1/1000 scaled shallow ocean environment with the need of effective timegating to simulate an open ocean environment. Characterization is done with burst and swept signals to identify each single bounce reverberant signal in the time domain. These values are confirmed with predicted values utilizing LabView to precisely translate between multiple positioning systems relative to the tank environment. Repeatability of the measurement chain relies on precision placement of transducers within the testbed and has been evaluated.
