Google Executive Joins CVLC

CPMS is pleased to introduce Danny Young as the newest member of the College Volunteer Leadership Council (CVLC) — a group of accomplished friends and alumni of the college who work with the college administration to support mentored learning, assist in outreach, facilitate fundraising and prepare students for the industry or graduate school.

Currently, Young is the director of business operations and strategy at Google Inc.. In his present role, he leads project teams in addressing strategic opportunities and designing efficient business processes for the company.

His educational background includes an MS degree in business from MIT Sloan School of Management and a BS in computer science from BYU. Young served an LDS mission in Japan, which indirectly led to his first job in the computer industry. While working as a waiter in Provo, he served two Japanese customers. They were so impressed with his mastery of the language that they offered him a position on the spot at their newly purchased computer company.

Prior to Google, Young was employed as a senior advisor for the private equity firm TPG, working with client portfolio companies such as Petco, Avaya and ATD. He also spent 11 years with Dell Inc. as a general manager and marketing director. Prior working for Dell, Young worked as a case team leader at Bain & Company, where his work included sales and channel strategy, product pricing and manufacturing sourcing.

Young is excited about giving back to BYU by helping present and future students reach their potentials.
