Title

Material Nanostructure Analysis With Pair Distribution Function

Abstract

Diffraction methods are used to determine material and magnetic structures. They work well to determine average properties, however they are ineffective for determining the nanoscale differences of structures with the same averages. Pair Distribution Function (PDF) analysis is a method for finding magnetic and atomic structures of materials on a smaller scale, which may be important factors in macroscopic properties. I have been using the software PDFgui to fit experimental data to a calculated function and look at the properties of BaFe2As2. Specifically, looking at differences for short and long fitting ranges and Co doping in different amounts. The goal is to find out what nanoscale properties of BaFe2As2 may be contributing to its potential for superconductivity.
