Magnetic Field Visualization Software
In many classes of materials, the spins of valence electrons create internal magnetic fields throughout the crystal structure. Muon spin relaxation (muSR), a powerful technique for studying magnetism in materials, relies on the interaction between muon spins and the magnetic field inside a material. We are developing software to calculate internal magnetic fields of materials to aid in the quantitative analysis of muSR data. The python-based software package takes in a crystal and magnetic structure and calculates the magnetic field at a specific point in the structure (or field of points). Although it is still in development, the software has already proven to be useful in magnetic field visualization. It has the potential to deepen our knowledge of the materials being studied, ultimately driving forward future advances in research and technology.
