Ends of Groups
Geometric group theory studies algebraic properties of groups through the geometry of metric spaces on which they act. One can find the ends of a metric space by considering complements of compact sets within the metric space. Ends of a group are the ends of the metric space on which the group acts geometrically. Historically, the study of ends has been for finitely-generated groups, however we will be discussing ways to find ends for non-finitely-generated groups.
