BeatBoxers - Musical Videogame Design
The current year's videogame is a music based fighter called Beatboxers. The goal of this game is to allow the player to feel like they are moving along with the music as they are fighting. This has brought up many questions as how a music based game and a fighter game can be merged together. We have tried many directions to reach this goal; from straight up fighter, to guitar heroesk, to mixes in-between. The core gameplay that we fell on was to allow any input from the user at anytime, but reward them for hitting on the beat of the song. This will allow the player to not feel constrained by the controlls while ensensivizing them to play along with the music.
