Title

Subtraction Games

Abstract

A subtraction game is a game played on a finite heap in which players alternate removing items from the heap with the object of the game being to leave the other player unable to move. The rules depend on a set of natural numbers, called the subtraction set, which governs how many items a player may remove on a turn. Here I study such things as periodicity and range of such games (and I will explain what these things mean in the games).
