Title

Scatter vs. Fourier Transformations of a 1D Chain of Atoms

Abstract

To better understand the difference between the Fourier and Scatter Transformations and determine which one would be better for use in Machine Learning, a 1D chain of atoms was created to put each transformation to the test. Shifting, Rearranging, and Stretching the chain ever so slightly allowed for a comparison of how each transformation does under only the smallest of changes. With this in mind, many graphs were produced of each to be able to visually determine the difference, and which one would remain more consistent over these few changes. Through this process, it was discovered that Scatter Transformations were more consistent in producing similar results than was the Fourier Transformations.
