Title

Predictive Crash Severity Distribution for Utah State Roadways Based on Facility Type

Abstract

Crash Severity measurements refer to the amount of damage to property or persons

involved in a crash. Because of the difference in costs, the Utah Department of Trans-

portation uses a predicted distribution of crash severities when considering how roadway

construction could minimize damage. Logit and multinomial models were considered to determine

the crash severity distributions. Model selection was then performed using cross-validation and information criteria.
