Title

Perceptions of Two-factor Authentication at Brigham Young University

Abstract

3M

Recently BYU approved campus-wide roll-out of DUO Security as the university’s two-factor authentication (2FA) management system. Thousands of BYU students and employees now use DUO to authenticate, choosing from a variety of 2FA options such as push notifications, SMS codes, one-time passcode generators, Universal Two-Factor (U2F), phone callback, and security tokens. We are developing surveys to determine how BYU students, faculty, and staff perceive the usability of DUO Security. Our findings will provide valuable feedback for the designers of two-factor methods and management systems.
