Synthesis of Zinc Oxide Nanoparticles in Ferritin
We believe that we have been able to synthesize zinc oxide nanoparticles in a solution of ferritin, an intracellular protein. The results from spectrophotometry and inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry have shown the presence of zinc oxide, as well as ferritin, in the same fractions following gel-filtration chromatography. However, the results of the solution’s optical properties are inconclusive as to the existence of zinc oxide nanoparticles. We are also waiting for further findings from transmission electron microscopy.
