Title

Development and Testing of NKT Cell Stimulating Non-Peptide Conjugate Vaccine.

Abstract

Natural Killer T (NKT) cell stimulating non-peptide conjugate vaccines could potentially provide better immunizations. We have synthesized and submitted NKT cell stimulating vaccines for testing that utilize the conjugation of a unique glycolipid ligand that interacts with the T cell receptor of NKT cells, operating through a more efficient path of signal transduction than peptide conjugates. Preliminary data has shown that these vaccines elicit robust generation of high affinity antibodies without the use of a traditional protein carrier or external adjuvant. This method of delivery may provide us with a new platform for vaccine development and a greater ability to fight resilient pathogens and disease.
