Title

Player Encouragement in BYU's Rhythm Fighting Game

Abstract

As lead designer of BeatBoxers, this year's video game project for the BYU animation department, I have had the opporitunity to work with several talented students to solve many unique and interesting problems in this new genre of game.

In particular, one of the primary problems we had to solve was the difficulty in encourging players to attack to the beat while at the same time avoiding the feeling of restriction.

Through frequent prototyping and player feedback, we were able to solve this problem using unique approaches.
