Title

An Analysis of Offensive Efficiency in Women’s Collegiate Basketball

Abstract

Basketball is a game that is always evolving. The most successful NBA teams today have the most efficient offenses. This project seeks to quantify the offensive efficiency of the BYU Women’s basketball team compared to the top teams in the West Coast Conference (Gonzaga and St Mary’s) and the best team in the nation (Connecticut).  We have constructed an offensive efficiency metric using good shot percentage, seconds per touch, second assists, and counter attacking. To validate this metric, we use linear regression.  With these data, we seed to identify which parts of its offense BYU needs to improve.
