ICP-MS Skimmer Cone Shock Simulations Compared to Experimental Measurements
There already exists a computational model of neutral gas flow through the Inductively Coupled Plasma – Mass Spectrometer (ICP-MS). However, the way that it handles the gas-surface interactions does not match the experimental velocity distributions near the skimmer cone found by Taylor and Farnsworth. The purpose of this research is to create a more accurate wall interaction model.
Using DSMC, implementing a combination of Maxwell’s gas-surface collision model and the Cercignani-Lampis-Lord method, plus some other original ideas, we have studied these models and their accuracy in modeling the experimental data found by Taylor, Farnsworth. Also, we expound on the different strengths and weaknesses of the different models along with their various aspects.
