Title

Poisson Regression Models: Methods and Application

Abstract

Poisson regression models can be used to model count data with a number of covariates. I demonstrate how to derive and test methodology for these models, including (1) calculation of the MLE, (2) interpretation of parameter estimates, (3) hypothesis testing via the the LRT, and (4) estimation of the probability of new observations. I illustrate these methods by modeling the relationship between air quality (measured with AQI) and deaths due to respiratory illness in United States counties in 2015.
