Electron Behavior in Extremely Intensive Laser Fields
A previous experiment studied field radiation resulting from an electron ionized from Helium in a short-pulse (~100 fs) laser field. The data collected resulted in a triangle waveform representing the electron’s acceleration in the field. As a follow-up experiment, we study the 2nd harmonic of the electric field using the same laser set up to collect data and better understand the electron’s interaction with the laser field. An improved design of the single photon collection system will allow for multiple harmonics to be studied simultaneously.
