Title

Silicon Micro Column Thermal Gradient Gas Chromatography

Abstract

Gas Chroatography is the gold standard for identification of volitiles and gasses. Conventional gas chromatography systems and large, and power intensive. Micro column gas chromotography has been explored to eliminate both issues. The problem with short columns is that different substances don't sepparate as well. Careful thermal control of the entire column has been shown to increase the efficiency and enable control of the gas seperation. Using deep silicon etching and other MEMS febrication tecniques a 10 cm long channel with a 4 cm^2  footprint and thermal controll using 21 individual heaters.
