Title

Evaluation of Room EQ Wizard for Acoustical Characterization of Venues

Abstract

Acoustical room characterization typically involves a lot of high end and expensive equipment for measuring, modeling, and finding solutions to problems. Recently, Room EQ Wizard (REW) was introduced to BYU as a less costly option. This presentation will show evaluate REW's effectiveness in terms of mapping sound coverage, calculating various parameters (reverberation time, clarity C80 and C50, and impulse response), and application to a venue with acoustical flaws. Results are still pending at this time but will be presented at the time of the conference. As of this day, REW shows great promise in being a less expensive but still accurate software option for obtaining acoustical room characterizations.
