Lateral Flow Immunoassay (LFI) Diagnostics and Optimization
Anemia of inflammation (AI) is caused through the overexpression of hepcidin. One emerging method to diagnose AI is to to measure hepcidin levels using a Lateral Flow Immunoassay (LFI). A LFI is optimized through multiple factors, including antibodies, antibody fixation, running buffers, conjugation, and the process of putting all these components together. Additional optimization of these parameters will enhance the ability to detect important disease biomarkers. Our lab is seeking to optimize all of these factors, including changes to conjugation, test line application, and materials used to decrease the cost of LFI manufacturing. I will report on methods for antibody optimization.
