Title

Impacts of NBA Injuries

Abstract

Injuries are a painful fact of life in sport.  In professional sports, the impact of injuries can be profound, since salaries can be in the millions of dollars.  We maintain a data base of injuries to players in the National Basketball Association.  Keeping the data base current requires no small effort.  Using the data base, we examine if there is an association between a specific injury and injuries that might follow, or between player position, age, and size on potential for injury.  We have also started to store shoe contract information, which will allow us to examine if there is a relationship between a specific shoe type and injury occurrence.
