Exo-Planet Discovery

Abstract

We are extremely lucky to live at a time when the centuries old quest for other world’s like our Earth can be answered and addressed scientifically. Astronomers have discovered thousands of planets around other stars ( exoplanets), though very few like our own terrestrial home.

For all planets that pass in front of their parent star, it is possible to estimate the orbital period and planetary radius, which gives us a clear description of the size of the detected planets. Of far greater value is the additional information received from the Kepler Space Telescope data due to the dynamical interaction between the planets.

Through Kepler mission it is possible to explore the structure and diversity of planetary systems. The goal of my research is the homogeneous analysis of Kepler’s Multiple Transiting Systems light curves to provide detailed measurements or constraints on the physical and orbital properties, like mass, eccentricity, inclination, radii etc., of the most information-rich planetary systems.
