Iminyl Radical Cyclization Reactions

Abstract

Iminyl radical cyclizations are useful in organic synthesis because they allow us to set stereochemistry, form rings, and generate several bonds in a single step. However, forming iminyl radicals traditionally has involved the use of toxic or explosive reagents. Recent research studies have found that microwaves may be used to initiate radical reactions, thus resolving these concerns. Our aim is to research the extent of the radical traps and oxime ethers we can use to perform microwave-promoted iminyl radical cyclizations as well as to discover optimal conditions for these reactions.
