Title

Event Tagging for Narrative Reconstruction

Abstract

Information extraction, which utilizes natural language processing, has a wide range of applications. Currently, the literature lacks a standardized method of processing text to extract its underlying narrative to form a timeline of events. IDeA Labs’ Storylab Project makes strides toward this end by using an in-house event extraction tool that allows a human annotator to analyze, and extract events from, news articles. We will illustrate the tool and event extraction process, explain the pertinence of corollary information, and discuss the implications of our project in pushing the boundaries of event extraction research.
