NATIONAL CHEMISTRY WEEK
OCTOBER 17-23, 2010
National Chemistry Week (NCW) is a community-based annual event that unites ACS local sections, businesses, schools, and individuals in communicating the importance of chemistry to our quality of life. Various events will be held throughout the week on campus.

CAREER EXPLORATION SERIES
OCTOBER 19-NOVEMBER 2, 2010 // 4PM // WSC
The Career Exploration Series will examine how a degree in science or mathematics can reach beyond elements, hardware, and numbers into a wide range of professions including such diverse fields as law, medicine, industry and academia, among others. Each night of the 2010 Career Exploration series, one department within the college will highlight the careers and opportunities awaiting its graduates.

APPLICATIONS FOR UNDERGRADUATE POSTER SESSION
MONDAY, NOVEMBER 15, 2010
The Council on Undergraduate Research is now accepting applications for thier undergraduate poster session on Capitol Hill this spring. Help members of Congress understand the importance of undergraduate research through your experiences.

SCHOLARSHIPS AND GRANTS

ORCA GRANTS
ORCA grants are awarded to students whose proposals possess exceptional potential to make a difference. In order to participate, students must work under the direction of a mentor. The application deadline is Friday, October 29, 2010.

SMART GRANTS
Grants include money for tuition, books, medical allowance, summer job or internship, plus a stipend of $25,000 - $40,000. The application deadline is Wednesday, December 1, 2010.

BARRY M GOLDWATER SCHOLARSHIP
The Goldwater program awards $7,500 to sophomores or juniors majoring in the natural sciences, engineering, or mathematics. An information meeting will be held Friday, October 10, 2010 at 3:00 pm in 3380 WSC. The application deadline is Friday, December 17, 2010.

BENJAMIN A GILMAN SCHOLARSHIP
The Gilman scholarship offers financial aid for students who are pursuing study abroad opportunities. The application deadline is Friday, October 15, 2010.
